Attendance
I would like to stress the importance of good attendance. There is so much instruction happening everyday that cannot be made up for in homework. So, it is vital that your child is present as much as possible. With that being said, I know that everyone becomes sick at one point or another and that is okay. If your student is suffering from cold-like symptoms, I would rather them stay home to recover. If they should miss class, please notify the office or bring a note when your child returns to school. If possible please try to schedule your child's appointments after school or on non-school days. Thank you!
Morning ROUTINE
Doors will open and the first bell will ring at 7:40. Students are to enter the building and shake Mr. McDougal's hand. They will then walk to their pods, find their class book bins, choose a book, sit down silently and read to self. When the second bell rings at 7:50 students are walk to the classroom, shake Ms. Watanabe's hand, put their things away and grab breakfast.
FRIDAY Folders
If you are unfamiliar with this method of weekly communication, it is a durable folder that is sent home with your child every Friday. The folder contains a school newsletter, fliers of upcoming events and fundraisers, information about volunteer opportunities and much more. Please look through your child's folder and empty it out every Tuesday to keep up to date on current events. Send it back with your child on Monday.
volunteering opportunities
I love having parent volunteers in my classroom. It helps me out so much and the students love having other adults in the room as well! If you are interest you will need to fill out an online form or go to our office and pick up a hard copy to fill out. I will have a link to the online form below. If you are approved you can attend field trips, classroom celebrations, work with students, stuff Tuesday Folders or help to prep upcoming classroom activities. I know many of you are busy and it may be difficult to commit to a regular volunteer day, so, I will send out notices throughout the year about specific volunteer opportunities. Thank you for your time!
